Thanks, yes Europe is seeing a re-calibration of the wind energy economics. It's not that they are completely unprofitable but pricing and the favorability of the terrain matter. So each project will be somewhat different. Good for diversifying a country's energy portfolio, but has more problems if you can't trade with partners on dead periods. For example Denmark can easily trade deficits/surplus, while Ireland is a bit further away from trading partners and the transfer is more unstable, making their wind infrastructure vulnerable.

I did say half jokingly in a comment that every wind-farm should have a bitcoin miner attached as surplus periods are also a problem and sometimes you cant easily trade them away.
